Gusto ko lang itanong kung paano malalaman kung anong klaseng kidney stone meron ako. Last week nagpa-KUB ultrasound ako at may nakitang bato na may laking 0.21 centimeters sa left kidney ko. Makukuha ba ‘yun sa tubig, sambong tablet o tsaa? Thank you and more power to you! -- Veejay
Ang kidney stones ay maaaring gawa sa calcium, struvite, uric acid o cystine. Ang pang­karaniwan dito ay calcium stones in the form of calcium oxalate. Ito ay nakukuha sa pagkain ng gulay, prutas, mani at tsokolate na merong mataas na oxalate levels. Madalas din itong makita sa mga taong gumagamit ng high doses of vitamin D o nagpa-intestinal bypass surgery.
Ang struvite stones ay nabubuo dahil sa urinary tract infection. Madali itong lumaki. Samantala, ang uric acid stones ay bumubuo sa taong kulang sa tubig, madalas pawisan, sa mga malakas kumain ng protina, at may gout.
Ang cystine stones ay pangkaraniwan sa taong may hereditary disorder tulad ng cystinuria kung saan madaming amino acids ang inilalabas ng kidneys.
Maaaring malaman kung anong klaseng bato meron ka sa pamamagitan ng blood test. Sinasabi nito kung maraming calcium o uric acid sa dugo na pwedeng magdulot ng kidney stones. Pwede ring suriin sa laboratoryo ang bato na lumabas sa katawan para malaman kung saan ito gawa at maiwasan ang pagbuo ng ibang bato.
Kung hindi masyadong malaki, kusang lalabas ang kidney stone sa katawan. Masakit ito pero hindi naman delikado. Uminom ka lang ng pain medication at maraming tubig para lumabas ito agad.
